Kelsey Garrity-Riley is one of my favorite illustrators so it goes without saying that I love this children's book. It is as enjoyable for the parent to read as it is for the child to listen to. The pictures are moving and colorful. The text is so well written too. Each theme in this book makes us want to discuss it further with our child. For example, talking about the importance of caring and being there for our friends, more than being the person with the most friends. Or about not trying to be a hero but rather learning to be part of a team. I love reading and re-reading this book.

I LOVE this book but I have to say I love food. I also love discovering new flavors, tasting new dishes and learning about cultures different from mine. This book is fun because it is a recipe book but also a story book where the pleasure of sharing a meal together is shown. How food connects us with each other. My children love to explain to me what ingredients are drawn and what steps I have to follow to prepare the dish presented on each page. And finally, I am a big fan of the illustrations in this book. I love Felicita Sala's artistic style. The handwritten text is beautiful and also brings something unique to the book. Kind of like our grandmother wrote it and passed it on to us.
